Quarentena nacional à japonesa irá até 16 de maio
O primeiro-ministro do Japão, Shinzo Abe, estendeu ao país inteiro na quinta-feira (16) o estado de emergência para conter a pandemia da Covid-19 já em vigor nas áreas metropolitanas de Tóquio e Osaka há nove dias.
“As áreas onde o estado de emergência deve se aplicar passarão de sete regiões para todas as regiões”, disse o chefe de governo durante uma reunião com especialistas médicos que o orientam sobre o combate ao coronavírus.
O número de casos no Japão tem dobrado a cada oito dias e ultrapassou 9.000 – embora a aceleração também possa refletir um número maior de testes realizados.
Na véspera, o país teve o maior número de óbitos em um só dia – 17, o que eleva o total para 136.
Ao decretar o estado de emergência em Tóquio e Osaka, Abe havia pedido a “colaboração de todos”, acrescentando que, segundo os especialistas, “se fizermos esforços para reduzir nossos contatos em 70%, e idealmente em 80%, o número de infecções diminuirá após duas semanas”.
“Vamos impedir a propagação da infecção, mantendo serviços sociais e econômicos e transporte público o máximo possível”, conclamara.
O estado de emergência vinha sendo insistentemente solicitado pela governadora de Tóquio, Yuriko Koike, favorável ao “fique em casa” e que temia que o acúmulo de casos levasse à superlotação dos hospitais.
O estado de emergência nacional terá duração inicial de um mês, até 16 de maio, e permite que as autoridades regionais orientem seus residentes a limitar sua movimentação e incentivem empresas a fechar temporariamente, mas não impõe o confinamento obrigatório, nem estabelece qualquer sanção a quem violar as disposições.
“Se limitarmos as áreas (em estado de emergência), as pessoas irão para regiões vizinhas”, disse o porta-voz do governo Yoshihide Suga.
Na coletiva de imprensa, Abe anunciou também que irá apresentar um projeto de lei para conceder o equivalente a quase US$ 1.000 a cada cidadão japonês, como compensação pelo impacto das novas restrições.
Até agora, o Japão foi relativamente poupado da pandemia, mas o número de casos aumentou significativamente desde um final de semana prolongado em março, que coincidiu com a floração das cerejeiras.
